Job Description
Senior Structured Sales Trader to join Global Markets team and assume responsibility for initiating and executing derivatives sales activity for Institutional Clients. The role requires candidates with a minimum of 10 years’ experience working in structured derivatives environment across various asset classes in the South African Financial Markets environment. The candidate must have a proven track record of structuring and executing transactions within the FX, Rates, Commodity and Equity Derivative space. The successful candidate must have experience working on structured derivative transactions that solution for institutional clients’ need for alpha generating products and optimizing the bank’s risk weighted assets.
The role of the Senior Structurer – Institutional Derivatives Sales entails, but is not limited to the following:
- Responsibility for supporting, initiating, and executing all-round structuring and sales activity for the Institutional Client Solutions team within Global Markets at Absa’s Corporate and Investment Bank.
- Responsibility for pricing, structuring, marketing, and executing of moderate to highly complex derivatives as well as related instruments to our Institutional client base.
- Candidate will be liaising with various stakeholders across the bank – coverage bankers, XVA desk, Treasury desk, FX and Rates traders and Legal department
- Strive to build new and maintain existing relationships across our client portfolios in South Africa and provide support to the in-country and also offshore structuring team covering international clients
- Assist clients with suitable risk management solutions which cater to the current market environment, which entails developing appropriate hedging policy frameworks and risk management strategies that add value to the clients business.
- In addition, the candidate must support junior colleagues in the team by helping them identifying opportunities, structure and price transactions.
- Manages all aspects of the transaction inclusive of legal documentation, pricing and modelling, credit limit verifications, regulatory, accounting and taxation as well as engagement with senior internal stakeholders through various committees to get transactions approved.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, changes in regulations that impact our clients, best practice, key role players and the competitor landscape whilst being forward looking in terms of future challenges
maintain existing relationships across the various institutional client portfolios. Relationship building and deep product knowledge are critical to the success in the role. Previous experience managing juniors is essential. B degree in Finance/ Quants/ Investments with deep understanding of derivatives products.
