The Pilot Supply Chain Business Manager (SBM) manages suppliers in support of New Product Introductions (NPI) for Lam Engineering teams and Pilot Manufacturing. This includes monitoring supplier performance, coordinating cross-functional teams, analyzing supplier workflows, ensuring adequate manufacturing capacity, and driving continuous improvement efforts. Lam depends on Rapid Prototype Manufacturing (RPM) as a key function to enable accelerated cycles of learning and development. As a result, there is substantial visibility placed on the performance of the team and the NPI supply-base.
The Pilot Supply Chain Business Manager role is a unique blend of strategy ownership and tactical execution. Each SBM is responsible for the activity within their assigned commodity and interface with a variety of stakeholders such as Engineering, Logistics, Quality Engineering, as well as Suppliers and Lam Executive Management. Clear communication, effective problem solving, negotiating, and a high standard of excellence are essential skills to be successful in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Manage assigned commodity in a cross functional environment, balancing requirements.
- Lead Pilot Procurement Team work groups to align sourcing objectives within the commodity team.
- Own Supplier rapid prototype manufacturing work groups to drive optimized delivery performance and continuous improvement.
- Negotiate and manage Rapid Prototype Material agreements internally and externally.
- Foster strong working ties with Lam’s supply base to align goals and drive initiatives.
- Serve as a resource that stakeholders rely on for guidance, be attentive to Product Group needs.
- Apply systemic resolutions to supply chain issues, leverage process maps to improve execution.
- Identify risks and create strategies to mitigate, contingency and business continuity planning.
- Understand capacity drivers within a commodity, present recommendations to close gaps.
- Respond and address escalations, communicate status, manage expectations, drive help needed.
- Develop SME knowledge within a commodity to influence stakeholders and strategic objectives.
