POSITION: SENIOR SUPPORT WORKER
Location: Earley Reading
Position Summary: Astounding Care Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Support Worker to join our team in Early Reading. In this role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing the well-being and quality of life for our service users. The Senior Support Worker will lead by example, providing hands-on assistance, coordinating activities, managing appointments, and maintaining effective communication with professionals and families. Additionally, this role encompasses responsibilities such as driving, medication audits, fire audits, and delivering personal care in alignment with established policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience in a care/support worker role, with a strong understanding of the needs of individuals with diverse abilities.
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Proficiency in administering medication and conducting audits.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and provide leadership when necessary.
- Empathetic, patient, and compassionate approach to providing care.
- Knowledge of fire safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
- Flexibility in working hours to accommodate the needs of the service users and the facility.
- Relevant certifications and training in health and social care are desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Personal Care: Provide personalized care to service users, ensuring their dignity and respect are maintained at all times. Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and other daily activities as needed.
- Support and Activities: Plan and facilitate engaging activities that enhance the physical, emotional, and social well-being of service users. Encourage participation and promote a stimulating environment.
- Appointments and Coordination: Manage appointments for service users, ensuring they attend medical, therapy, and other relevant appointments. Coordinate transportation and provide support during appointments as required.
- Professionals and Families: Maintain open and effective communication with healthcare professionals, therapists, families, and guardians. Provide updates on the well-being and progress of service users.
- Medication Audits: Conduct regular audits of medication administration to ensure accuracy, adherence to protocols, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Fire Audits: Perform routine fire safety checks and audits to maintain a safe environment for service users and staff. Address any concerns or issues promptly and appropriately.
- Driving: Safely transport service users to various destinations using company vehicles. Adhere to traffic rules and regulations while ensuring the comfort and safety of passengers.
- Leadership and Training: Lead and support a team of support workers by providing guidance, mentoring, and training. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including service user profiles, care plans, incident reports, and any other relevant documentation.
- Emergency Response: Act swiftly and effectively in case of emergencies, following established protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals within the facility.
