We are looking for a Senior Surveyor/ Facilities Manager to join our Estates and Facilities Management team at Gwent Police. We have set ourselves ambitious targets to upgrade, modernise and optimise our Work spaces and Estate and you will be pivotal in delivering our ambitions around these and sustainability from a built infrastructure perspective.
The role will require the post holder to:
- Provide specialist technical leadership to enable effective and efficient control of our diverse property portfolio.
- Oversee Planned Maintenance, Minor Capital Works Programme, Workplace Modernisation and Facilities Management from inception to delivery.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage Maintenance.
- Minor Capital Works and Facilities Management on an estate portfolio of varying types of police sites such as stations, custody suites, training centres and specialist facilities such as our mounted and dog units, ensuring structure, fabric and infrastructure is maintained, enhanced and compliant.
- Provide building surveying and wider technical estates management expertise and leadership, drawing from industry best-practice.
- Working in a multidisciplinary team to deliver complex, multi-stakeholder projects which make our buildings great places to work.
- Support operational colleagues in the delivery of an efficient police service as well as partner organisations (fire & ambulance service) by delivering first class facilities management.
- Taking leadership of Maintenance and Minor Capital Works projects alongside our project management team to ensure projects are completed on time and to budget.
- Deputise for the Head of Estate and Facilities.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Chartered member of RICS, CIOB or equivalent and extensive post qualification experience.
- Expert understanding of the principles of estates/property management, budget management and highly skilled in planning and managing construction projects.
- Expert understanding of the principles of facilities management to include but not limited to Cleaning , Grounds , Catering , Security and Maintenance.
- Solution focused in relation to design and property constraining factors and project and business issues.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with key stakeholders at all levels.
- Work well under pressure, demonstrating the ability and want to go the ‘extra mile’.
- Experienced user of bespoke industry systems such as BMS.
