Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior System Safety Engineer is responsible for the creation and implementation of system safety programs on projects including the generation, development and maintenance of Deliverable system safety documentation (System Safety Program Plan, Safety Case Reports, Hazard Logs etc.).

The duties of the Senior System Safety Engineer include, but not limited to:

  • Contribute to System Safety Process Improvement;
  • Create and implement System Safety Program Plans for given project;
  • Take full responsibility for all system safety aspects on allocated projects;
  • Analyse design solutions for compliance with system safety requirements and recommend improvements;
  • Prepare formal Deliverable System Safety documentation (Safety Case Reports, Hazard Logs etc.);
  • Support the integration of System Safety into all phases of the product life cycle;
  • Participate in formal and informal Design Reviews;
  • Provide specialist advice as required;
  • Provide system safety training to Rheinmetall personnel for all safety processes where relevant;
  • Fulfil other duties and responsibilities that may be required as determined with your manager from time to time.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Engineering recognised by The Institute of Engineers Australia;
  • TUV Functional Safety Engineering Certificate (desired);
  • 7+ Years’ experience in military vehicle or automotive Safety Engineering;
  • Experience in applying MIL-STD-882 and IEC61508 within an SFAIRP framework preferably on Defence LAND Projects;
  • Have excellent written English communication skills;
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required)
