Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Systems Administrator/Engineer - Linux to join our Health IT team in Germany! This is an onsite position.
The role includes use of Medweb’s secure automated Theater Image Repository (TIR) tools and technologies to provide sensitive clinical patient data from injured or ill soldiers in theater to the various PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) systems in Department of Defense (DOD) Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs). This allows for immediate and timely access to patient radiology images and data for US military medical personnel serving in combat locations. This role includes installation, configuration, refresh support and maintenance of the hardware and software for the Object Storage Cluster, Karos Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) Server, Medweb Servers and DICOM/Network interfaces with various DoD sites. The Sr. System Administrator/Engineer is required to provide onsite management and support to the base TIR system in Germany and assist with troubleshooting and issue correction at any connecting site.
The Sr. System Administrator/Engineer is also responsible for the daily operational availability of networked hardware and software systems required to support DoD Defense Tele-Radiology System (DTRS) TIR Archive customer operations. Direct and oversee scheduled testing and review of hardware and software to ensure potential problems are identified at the earliest point possible, ensures adjustments and/or repairs of hardware problems are accomplished as the need is detected, and ensures programming adjustments are implemented. Recommend appropriate corrective action for complex problems and ensures documentation is prepared for all hardware and/or software adjustments and/or modifications.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
- 3 years of experience as a Linux Systems Administrator
- 2 years of experience with cloud technologies
- 2 years of experience in PACS System Administration
- Health IT knowledge and experience
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a complex and dynamic environment
- Must have networking and Kubernetes experience.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment and consistently meet strict service level agreement performance requirements
- Fluent in English
- Must be able to live and work in Germany
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science
- Certified PACS Associate (CPAS), Certified PACS System Analyst (CPSA), Certified DICOM Interration Professional (CDIP), Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP)
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification
- Experience with XDS-i Dicom Object Storage
- Experience with Karos IHE System Administration and Management
- Experience with HL7 v2.x, HL7 v3.x
- Experience with C-CDA and XDS.b standards and protocols
- Experience working in a US military medical theater combat environment
- Strong level of understanding of the interdependencies and integration of the Defense Health Agency’s clinical legacy systems of record as well as secure DOD-Certified Cloud Storage Architectures, Radiology Workflows and Networking on DoD networks.
- Engineering understanding of how images and data are securely processed and transferred to DOD’s Healthcare Artifact Image Management System (HAIMS) and the Electronic Clinical Image Archive (ECIA) for storage and retrieval by US military medical personnel
- PACS integration analyst training, including HL7, DICOM, PACS workflow, and IHE
- Cloud storage system administration, expansion and debugging DoD information system security training
- Tele-radiology systems experience in US military theater-based locations of care and in combat environments
- Cross-enterprise document exchange protocols and the importance of unique accession numbers and unique study identifiers in the implementation of a global image repository that connects multiple PACS systems (this component is important so that local PACS SAs can be trained in the importance of unique identifiers and accession numbers in implementation of a global enterprise workflow that includes multiple PACS vendors.)
- Strong understanding of healthcare clinical codes sets such as LOINC, CPT, ICD, RxNorm, etc.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing/walking/Talking and must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.

Responsibilities:
- TIR System Management including installation, configuration, support and maintenance of the hardware and software for Object Storage Clusters
- Pre- and post-acquisition training, and advice and workflow tools to the medical staff responsible for the proper identification of medical imaging studies
- System administration of Karos DICOM Servers, Medweb Servers and DICOM/Network DOD interfaces
- Support the TIR Data Scrubber to manually push studies to the TIR verified or unverified storage portions
- Support access by authorized users for rapid and reliable access to medical images/artifacts stored in the TIR
- Oversee images and artifacts delivery into the repository for archiving and future retrieval and use
- Interface with local medical staff and ensuring that the TIR is running within policies/processes of the MTFs• Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to TIR operations, interfaces, configuration changes and access
- Setup and maintenance of the DTRS/TIR product development and test environments
- Oversee development, integration and test activities for DTRS/TIR and interface components
- Prepare operational statistics, dashboards, and usage reports
- Utilize standards for system integration via HL7 v2.x, HL7 v3.x, C-CDA and XDS.b standards and protocols, and IHE
- Provide ongoing technical support and maintenance of production and development systems and software products (both remote and onsite) and for configured services running on various platforms (operating within a defined operating model and processes)
- Provide hardware/software support and implement technology at the operating system-level across all server and network areas
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of the DTRS/TIR product development and test environments conduct development, integration and test activities for DTRS/TIR and interface generate documents to support development activities as required
- Manage setup, systems activation, and provide on-site hands-on maintenance as required
- Troubleshoot anomalies with radiology workflow, such as incorrect patient or examination identification that impact tele-radiology capabilities
- Work with Program Office identified personnel to maintain PPO for Ports and Protocols
- Respond to inquiries from worldwide peer sites regarding network connectivity issues
- Submit Defense Health Agency (DHA) support requests on an as needed basis to resolve conflicts or outages occurring on the Landstuhl Medical Center end of the connections
- Utilize DoD process and request new Certificates for the Medweb Servers, apply them when received from DoD
