Senior System Analyst/Programmer
Primary Office Location: 123 Front Street West, Toronto, Ontario
Grade 9, Step 6 (Local 507)
Pay Range - $43.51 – $62.96/hr

About the Role
Teranet is currently looking for a Senior Systems Analyst/Programmer fo The POLARIS II Development Team. You will be responsible for the support, maintenance, enhancements and development of the POLARIS II application suite of programs and databases.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Responsible for the support, maintenance and modifications of the POLARIS II application suite of programs and databases.
- Trouble-shoot software problems and identify/implement solutions.
- Responsible to analyze, design, develop changes, fixes and prepare detailed technical specifications and project plans in accordance with Teranet’s standard for POLARIS II related systems on an individual basis.
- Leads systems development, programming and implementation activities and undertake major developments as a member and/or a leader of a project team.
- Recommends revisions, enhancement to the workflow, procedures and policy related to POLARIS II system.
- Defines unit, system, parallel, stress and acceptance testing criteria for POLARIS II system releases and ensures that appropriate test data is created.
- Participate in integration and regression testing.
- Prepare technical documentation.
- Responds to requests for assistance from the LOB and Customer Service.
- Provide production support as required.
- Promote and abide by Teranet’s system development methodology.
- Maintain a current knowledge in Teranet’s suite of system development tools.
- Implement security policies as set out by Teranet’s Security Officer.
- Assists the Manager in various administrative and planning tasks.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Other related duties as directed.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline
- 8+ years hands-on experience in analyzing user requirements, systems analysis, systems design and programming.
- Experience in multi-tier web application development.
- Mission-critical on-line system development or maintenance experience.
- 5+ years hands-on experience with Java, J2EE, HTML, HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, JQuery, Ajax, JSP, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, JBoss, AMQ, iText7, Ant, Maven, Jenkins Pipeline, EclipseLink, TopLink, LDAP, Oracle RDBMS and SQL, Jira, Git, Gerrit.
- Excellent command on concepts, practices and procedures of systems and implementation development life cycle
- Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Design and Programming (familiarity with Rational Rose and RUP is an asset)
- Strong knowledge of Relational Database Design and Object-Relational Database Mapping
- Ability to develop & maintain SQL scripts and Shell scripts in UNIX environment.
- Extensive knowledge of UNIX environment.
- Extensive knowledge of Responsive Design and Accessibility (WCAG)
- Strong ability to work well under pressure, manage conflicting priorities and have strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong ability to work independently and provide appropriate status and updates to management.
- Must be a good team player with a positive attitude.
- Coaching capabilities with respect to teaching and mentoring more junior staff members.
- Self-starter with the ability to learn quickly, has good problem-solving skills and can meet tight deadlines.
- In accordance with legal agreements with the Ministry of Government Services, employees must pass security and credit checks.
- Knowledge of Teranet system support would be an asset.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Land Registry System would be an asset.
