Description:

The Digital Pathology Program utilizes high-throughput automated scanners to capture slide images, which are viewed digitally through utilization of imaging software. The digital images are interpreted by a pathologist, and findings are utilized to support diagnosis for patient care, clinical trials, and research activities. The Senior Systems Consultant - Research will be responsible for assisting in all pre and post analytical steps involved in digitizing slides received from outside clients for research purposes as well as telepathology and second opinion consultation via digital avenues. This includes problem resolution of software and hardware, end user training and support, guidance and assistance with validation and quality assurance of images. The Senior Systems Consultant - Research will perform data review of errors, as well as equipment knowledge and troubleshooting for end to end digital pathology workflows, as it pertains to outreach clients.
The Senior Systems Consultant - Research oversees research activities relating to digital pathology and telepathology. Active management and development of complex relationships with a diverse group of collaborators representing slide scanning; image analysis; data management and storage; research initiatives both in industry and academia; Project development from inception stage to implementation, troubleshooting, and execution; Facilitates collaboration between internal and external groups for projects ranging from the development of digital pathology consult intake workflow to clinical image analysis workflow; coordinates necessary steps in developing business agreements between OSU and outside groups relating to digital pathology; Validates software and hardware for research digital pathology uses and submits risk assessments for all software and hardware relating to digital pathology. Works with manager processes for clinical secondary consultation and frozen section pathology collaboration between OSU and regional offsite facilities; installing and managing devices such as Sakura VisionTek; Leica LV1; Mikroscan SL5; Precipoint M8; and Grundium Ocus live microscopes both internally and externally to provide more specialized levels of patient care outside of the OSU Wexner Medical Center network; validating and integrating software and hardware internally and at regional sites; training laboratory staff on equipment and procedures; troubleshooting interconnectivity issues between internal and external networks; and general supplementary process support. Presents information to the lab manager as it applies to accreditation, compliance and quality assurance.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer & Information Sciences. 6 years of relevant experience required.
