Description:

In this role, you will become a backbone of the team responsible for coordinating complex system dependencies as well as contributing to solving these for the complete mechanical design of Wingtra’s products. We love simple, elegant designs which put ease-of-use and robustness at the center. In our team, you get to collaborate with project managers that do hands-on engineering themselves and have a deep technical understanding of our products.
Tasks

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects and contribute to projects developing complex cross-functional systems (mechanics, electronics, software) in future Wingtra drones and Payloads
  • Translate high-level requirements into executable work packages in various technical domains
  • Develop mechanical solutions for Wingtra drones, payloads and accessories, which seamlessly integrate with their electronic counterparts in compliance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
  • Analyze problems and drive solutions across the full development cycle: from feasibility study to prototyping to mass production, incl. supervising the entire process of creating and launching cutting-edge battery chargers for flight batteries, from initial concept to final production
  • Build, iterate and rigorously test your solutions to ensure successful product integration
  • Handling the mechanical integration of diverse payloads, guaranteeing smooth compatibility and optimal performance
  • Work closely with external suppliers and engineering contractors to deliver prototypes and designs
  • Interface with the internal production team at the transition to mass production, delivering robust assembly and quality processes, and working closely with the supply chain team

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, product development, industrialization, or equivalent
  • 5-7+ years of product development experience, preferably in the UAV or automotive industry
  • Programming experience with Python, Matlab, VBA and C++
  • Proven experience in leading engineering projects from concept to implementation
  • Expertise in evaluating and integrating LiDAR and other advanced payload systems
  • Ability to apply engineering knowledge and problem solving skills to create robust but elegant designs for complex electromechanical systems
  • Hands-on experience in design for at least two of the following manufacturing processes (injection molding, CNC machining, metal casting, composites)
  • Proficient user of 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred). Demonstrated track record of clean, scalable designs and finding shortcuts to get things done on time
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Practical experience in formulating smart technical requirements that allow meaningful verification from high level user requirements
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary project teams (matrix organization)
  • Experience with aerospace or automotive industry standards
  • Specific experience in camera systems / battery systems / electric drivetrain systems

If you enjoy teamwork more than being the individual superhero, and if you thrive in a feedback-driven culture and an exciting, unconventional yet structured and progressive start-up environment, we would love to hear from you
