As the Senior Systems Engineering Manager you will join our Engineering Delivery Management team. In this critical role, you will lead and coordinate engineering teams to achieve technical, schedule, and financial objectives from start to finish. Responsibilities include developing project budgets, managing costs, scheduling activities, defining system development cycles, and ensuring resource requirements are met. You will oversee internal and subcontractor plans, manage timely deliveries, and maintain efficient problem reporting processes. Additionally, you will provide technical direction, mentor staff, and manage risks and opportunities, ensuring clear communication and alignment across all project facets. Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate engineering teams to achieve technical, schedule, and financial objectives.
- Develop and agree on project budgets, managing actual and forecast costs.
- Schedule internal activities and coordinate with subcontractors.
- Define the system development cycle and document processes, practices, and tools.
- Define resource requirements and communicate issues and constraints.
- Ensure clear and bounded work package requirements and manage scope.
- Review and validate internal and subcontractor plans.
- Manage timely deliveries and ensure efficient problem reporting.
- Monitor engineering activities through dashboards and manage risks and opportunities.
- Issue engineering status reports to Project Management.
- Provide technical direction and support performance management.
- Coach, mentor, and develop staff, fostering teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Identify and review technical risks and mitigation plans with Chief Engineers.
- Maintain regular communication with Project Manager, Chief Engineers, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate with Engineering Departments to assign and manage resources and roles.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent education with relevant experience.
- Certifications: P.Eng. or CET or eligible to obtain P.Eng or CET
- Preferred:
- Incorporated or Chartered Engineer or have evidence of progress towards Professional Registration with a PEI.Experienced in Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environments.
Essential skills:
- Naval Combat Systems Integration
- Acceptance, Test and Commissioning
- Subcontractor management
- Senior Systems Engineering Delivery Experience including IVVQA experience
- Certification experience MOD defence
Desired Skills:
- Electronic warfare background
- C2 command and control background highly desirable. E.g: CMS, Tactitos
Experience:
- Experience: 5+ years experience in coordinating system engineering activities and proven experience managing cost and schedule.
- Experience with electronic systems.
- Experience with JIRA, DOORS, EA
