ABOUT US

The Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering is one of the largest Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering departments in the UK. The Department is proud to host internationally-leading research groups covering a broad range of activities and spread over several sites. Our staff and students have a diverse range of interests and expertise, covering many areas of physics, engineering, medicine, physiology, computer science, and mathematics. Our focus is on excellent academic research in identifying new technologies and methods for diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases using medical imaging, physiological monitoring, and the development of implanted devices. We also offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will possess strong organisational and administrative skills, including proficiency in IT systems such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities are essential, along with the capability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Experience in a busy office environment, preferably within higher/further education or a teaching and learning context, is crucial. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality service, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Additionally, flexibility in working hours, including weekend availability during peak periods, is required. Knowledge of relevant data protection requirements and familiarity with university-specific systems such as PORTICO, CMIS and Register UCL will be advantageous.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering seeks an ambitious administrative manager from within UCL for the role of Senior Teaching and Learning Administrator on a permanent basis. The role will oversee all teaching and learning administration. The role holder will specialise in administering taught courses/programmes, both undergraduate and postgraduate, ensuring effective procedures are documented and adopted for dealing with all aspects including enquiries, applications, marketing, exams and progression. The role will manage a team of Teaching and Learning Administrators and will lead in achieving a high quality standard of service to current and prospective students relating to the designated programmes and beyond. To succeed, the postholder must be a good manager of people, efficient, organised and take great care in attention to detail.
