YOUR OPPORTUNITY

Our GTA based team is currently seeking a Transportation Engineering (Roads/Transit/BRT) - Senior Technical/Design Manager to join our team of project managers, technical staff, and multi-discipline specialists in the completion of transit/rail projects. You will lead a team of professionals in the design and construction of large-scale projects in our growing transit-based sector. The projects will be in various phases from conceptual planning, through design, construction, and occupancy. Our team is primarily providing Technical Advisory services partnered with major government agencies with the option in this role to work on the contractor side of Design Build opportunities as well.

YOUR CAPABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS

  • Excellent communication and Leadership skills (verbal and written) as well as good relationship building skills with respect to your interactions with team members, clients, and contractors.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines while work independently.
  • A strong work ethic with the desire to excel, inspire and to achieve.
  • Willingness to learn and a motivated team player.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 15 years of experience in Engineering, Technical Advisory Related Work, Construction Management, Business, or equivalent experience. Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent degree. Civil Engineering Technology diploma or university degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Registered Member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario PEO or with The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologists and Technicians.
  • Project Management Professional Designation PMP is an asset.

Responsibilities:

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage multiple projects as a Technical Manager, Technical Advisor/Owner’s Representative. Managing the approved scope, budget and schedule are of utmost importance.
  • Lead the Design Team consisting of the Engineers, Scientists, Planners, Coordinators, Schedulers, and other consultants.
  • Create innovative ideas and approaches to re-evaluate and improve our business.
  • Promoting and overseeing our safety program and overall safety culture.
  • Day-to-day project oversight and communication with the client and project team.
  • Develop, track, update, forecast and modify the project schedule and budget throughout all phases of the project.
  • Leadership and oversite of our safety program, quality reviews, plan reviews and inspections.
  • Understand and assist in the negotiation of contracts of all parties to the project.
  • Evaluate, advise on and assist in resolving disputes and claims.
  • Regular collaboration with colleagues in our multi-disciplined design office.
