REQUIREMENTS
Essential: A relevant qualification e.g. HNC, HND, Degree in Civil Engineering/Transportation or other relevant discipline and appropriate experience; Excellent IT skills and experience of MS Office, or similar; Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills; Ability to work on your own initiative, using good judgement; Ability to prioritise workloads; Ability to work with minimum supervision and under pressure; Experience of successfully working as a member of a team and have strong customer focus; You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
Desirable: Membership of relevant professional institute; Experience in road construction consent processes under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 in private or public sector; Experience of using the National Roads Development Guide; Experience of dealing with developers, contractors and consultants; Experience of site supervision; Broader experience of transport sector; Experience of liaising and of working collaboratively within and across sectors; Good knowledge and experience of Geographic Information Systems (GIS); Knowledge and experience of Excel software;
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will join the Transportation & Development Team to play a key role in achieving sustainable and inclusive places. The role will primarily see you inspecting, monitoring and supervising the delivery of new roads through the Road Construction Consent process along with assisting with the processing of Road Construction Consent applications - a key stage in the formation of new streets in our growing city, towns and other settlements. Your main responsibilities will include: onsite inspections, monitoring and supervision of the delivery of Road Construction Consents (RCC); reviewing applications and plans submitted for new developments to ensure they comply with Government Guidance and British Standards for construction; Liaison with a range of internal Council departments; Consulting public and external bodies along with regular contact with Developers and Consultants; Processing of vehicle access applications; Responding to enquires from members of the public including in relation to List of Public Roads, Road Construction Consent applications and vehicle accesses
