Description:
As a Senior Scrub Practitioner you will have demonstrable knowledge and experience in operating theatre practice, with an excellent understanding of the perioperative needs of patients and a wide knowledge of peri-operative nursing practices and procedures.
You must be organised, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and experience of supervising a theatre team to produce the highest standard of patient care.
The ideal candidate will be motivated and enthusiastic, with a passion for high quality patient care, as well as the ability to work under pressure as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
As a senior theatre practitioner, you will be required to function effectively, as the practitioner in charge of the operating theatre, to ensure optimum theatre efficiency and safe high quality surgical service.
Ensure a welcoming, caring and safe environment, as well as promoting, maintaining and monitoring standards in accordance with the guidelines of the NMC/HCPC and CQC.
Evidence of leading teams, supervising new starters/ junior staff/ students and supporting programmes of learning.
As a senior theatre practitioner, you will be responsible for the management of the operating list, and for the care of patients on that list in the immediate perioperative environment.
You will be responsible for planning, and delivering safe patient care in the operating theatre,
You will supervise and support qualified and unqualified staff, ensuring that all staff is able to provide the highest standard of care and promoting best evidence-based practice.
You will be able to promote and maintain effective communication with the members of the multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with the medical team to ensure the most efficient use of the theatre
You will update the patient medical records and to report any incidents in line with the Trust policies.
You will demonstrate leadership skills and experience in the management of the operating theatre by delivering safe, effective use of the operating theatre, and acting as a role model in following Trust policy.
