Location: Reigate – Hybrid working – 50% office-based

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven planning and organisational skills with the ability to plan scheme transitions and manage a diverse workload.
  • Able to work under pressure to achieve objectives within agreed timescales, without compromising accuracy and quality.
  • Extremely organised, with the ability to make intelligent decisions when faced with competing priorities.
  • Excellent at both verbal and written communication, with great interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative/drive.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; with the ability to analyse and check data accordingly and efficiently whilst explaining issues to clients in a clear and appropriate manner.
  • A strong negotiator, with good influencing skills, and the ability to handle conflicting priorities with internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to `Project Manage’ transactions through to conclusion by effectively partnering with Scheme Trustees and EBCs.
  • Good understanding of life and pensions industry essential, in particular DB Pensions and the DB de risking market.
  • Excellent problem analysis and resolution skills.
  • Experience working in the Pensions Industry for a similar organisation essential.
  • Experienced within the Life and Pensions Industry, preferably within DB Pensions or the DB De-risking Market, with knowledge of buy-ins and buy outs or general de-risking being desirable.
  • Experience of relationship management and/or project management (attained or working towards project management qualifications desirable, e.g. Prince 2, Agile, APM).

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE

This role is responsible for project planning and managing scheme transitions from contract negotiations through to the end of data cleanse, including the collation and validation of accurate data providing the cornerstone of the transaction and implementation of the contact.
Agreeing process and timescales with the trustees and internal key stakeholders ensuring client commitments are met and issues are escalated accordingly, with excellent stakeholder management throughout the process.

The role will involve working on a number of transactions at once and the transition manager is responsible for ensuring all parties involved in the initial transition activities are aware of their responsibilities.
The role will also provide direction and support for the development of the Transition Consultant and Transition Support roles.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

  • Project Manage all assigned transitions from exclusive appointment, or earlier if required, ensuring timely completion of all tasks in line with client and business expectations.
  • Oversee the completion of all regulatory checks and reviews associated with new transactions, including the recording of activity to ensure robust audit trail.
  • Communicate and agree operational tasks for all schemes in transition such as movement reporting and payroll funding with client, agreeing non-standard processes internally before implementing with clients.
  • Ensure understanding of final data and data queries, managing queries between Just and Client until finalised data schedule is agreed to a satisfactory level to be handed over to Implementation Team.
  • Oversee the completion and sign off of scheme Statement of Accounts in line with agreed DB Governance matrix, updating finance on new transactions and/or premiums.
  • Work with Head of Implementation Services and Head of True up to understand the true up calculation and Mercer set up requirements, ensuring clients are kept informed of progress and any delays or issues that affect them.
  • Support the Senior Business Development Manager with management of clients, including discussing how we can support them throughout their de-risking journey, and attendance at Trustee board meetings (where appropriate).
  • Support the development of the transition manager, transition consultant and transition support roles, providing direction and training as required.
