What you’ll be doing
CIBC Treasury actively manages balance sheet resources (capital, funding and investments), as well as balance sheet risks (interest rate, liquidity and foreign exchange) in support of our bank’s strategy. We are an independent advisor to our operating businesses in the analytical pricing of products and strategies. Treasury also manages regulatory, central bank, government, industry and investor relations related to capital and funding instruments, balance sheet regulation, and treasury related financial system risks. As a Senior Treasury Analyst, you will work closely with the team, and cross-functional teams including Finance, Taxation, Legal, and Corporate Secretary, to assist in capital planning, execution of capital initiatives, and providing analysis to support management decisions and obtaining regulators’ approvals.

How you’ll succeed
- Execution and Analysis. Assist in the execution, analysis and regulatory reporting of capital initiatives, such as Normal Course Issuer Bid program, issuances and redemptions of CIBC capital instruments
- Assist in support to CIBC subsidiaries, including capital contributions, parental guarantees, and lines of credits; and prepare annual reporting of such activities to the Risk Management Committee
- Manage the traced capital portfolio, including cash flow forecasting, reviewing reinvestment instructions, and management reporting; Prepare quarterly variance analysis of our capital and TLAC positions; and periodic and ad hoc analysis related to CIBC’s capital position
- Monitor and update structural foreign exchange sensitivity to our capital ratios;
- Perform benchmarking analysis using CIBC and other banks’ disclosures (MD&A, FS, Pillar 3 report, investor slides, quarterly calls), focusing on capital, including what has happened in the past quarter, future plans, management commentary. Summarize findings and send to internal stakeholders;

Who You Are
You have a degree in Business, Finance or a related discipline. If you have (or are working towards) a certification (CPA or CFA), it will be considered an asset.
- You have a good knowledge of Financial Accounting and understand the concept of legal entity. Related work experience will be considered an asset.
- You can demonstrate experience with analysis and problem solving. You have the ability to produce high quality work with ad hoc requests and under demanding conditions and timeframes. You possess a high proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint; and have strong communication skills and attention to detail.
