Purpose of the Role
As a Senior Underwriter you will be responsible for the risk appraisal of all insurance policies of both medical and non-medical risks for life insurance coverage within limits set by underwriting policy.

Responsibilities of the Role

• Risk Appraisal
• Asses New Business applications and applications for Reinstatement for individual life insurance, the degree of risk the proposed insured and policyowner represents whether medical, occupational, financial, avocational, or geographical, and make decisions on accepting, denying, or modifying coverage within authority (Standard and Substandard Risks).
• Assess application for Policy Amendments requested by policyholders such as increase/decrease face amounts, addition/deletion of riders, change of plan benefits, change of beneficiaries, etc.
• Handling Referrals to Reinsurance and Medical Consultant
• Handles arrangements/referrals to Reinsurer.
• Handles arrangements/referrals to Medical Consultant.
• Training and Development
• Conducts underwriting trainings, forums and sessions on underwriting guidelines and procedures to develop work competency, integrity and credibility among the sales force.
• Provide support to system development such as user-acceptance training, modules updates, etc.
• Customer Service
• Ensure all inquiries, concerns, and complaints of Sales regarding underwriting and its related issues are properly handled, coordinated, and resolved within acceptable time period.

Requirements for the Role

• Graduate of any 4-year course (preferably in medical science)
• 6 to 7 years of experience in life insurance underwriting
• Knowledge in medicine and medical illnesses is an advantage.
• Attention to details.
• Analytical thinking
• Communication skills (written and oral communication skills)
• Computer skills (MS office proficiency)
• Integrity
