Description:

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: 3 years of experience. Prefer Drupal front-end development, theming and site-building knowledge, as well as Drupal back-end development experience.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required, in IT-related field preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  1. Knowledge and experience with server platforms and Web server software, networking, and security architecture and implementation.
  2. Knowledge of OOP principles in PHP 7.x and greater.
  3. Solid skills in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and cross-browser implementations.
  4. Expert understanding of Drupal database structure and schema.
  5. Work with local development environments (Lando and Docker) and command line tools.
  6. Expert knowledge of Drupal theme development in Drupal 9 and willingness to translate that to version 10.
  7. Expert knowledge of common Drupal 9 and 10 modules such as paragraphs and webform and extending them through code.
  8. Understanding of Drupal modules and how they operate.
  9. Ability to configure Drupal 9/10 and create custom Drupal modules using the core API.
  10. Strong knowledge of the Drupal hook system and API.
  11. Fundamental knowledge of Gulp, Git or other version-control software.
  12. Experience working with RESTful Web Services.
  13. Experience with test-driven development and unit testing tools.
  14. Experience configuring users, roles, and permissions.
  15. Familiarity with technical issues that can emerge in web development and ability to work constructively with various development teams.
  16. Extensive hands-on experience with Drupal Cloud technologies and hosting environments such as Acquia and Pantheon.
  17. Mastery of and commitment to apply web development best practices, such as responsive design, progressive enhancement and graceful degradation.
  18. Excellent project management, time management, and organizational skills (plan and implement projects according to specifications, report project statuses, identify delays or resource shortages).
  19. Ability to collaborate constructively with others to solve problems and share knowledge.
  20. Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment and make sound decisions.
  21. Ability to prioritize key tasks when confronted with limited time and/or resources.
  22. Comfortable building Drupal sites from scratch.
  23. Experience with Drupal 9 & 10 is highly desired.
  24. Proficiency with Twig Template Engine.
  25. Awareness of interface design standards, information architecture, user experience and web accessibility as it relates to developing sites.
  26. Ability to meet consistent attendance.
  27. Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and customers face to face.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Administer and maintain the university’s Drupal content management system and associated web systems. (30%)
  2. Lead the development, configuration, migration, integration, testing and maintenance of Drupal websites. Lead implementation and testing for new Drupal websites. Design and develop a Drupal solution for support releases and develop ideas for improving and extending the solution, including modules. Develop and customize Drupal themes and sub themes. Monitor university websites within Drupal for security vulnerabilities, assess the criticality, and patch appropriately. (17%)
  3. Investigate, diagnose, and resolve production issues with a quick turnaround time and communicate root cause and workaround options to team members and clients. (10%)
  4. Work with a cross-functional team and provide guidance to both internal and external team members to support the open-source implementation, development, integration, and maintenance of Drupal. Communicate and coordinate proactively with multiple project teams. Attend client or deliverable support and design meetings. (10%)
  5. Build page layouts with content and blocks, build navigation with menus and toolbars, create content types, and perform code reviews. (8%)
  6. Engage productively in the web team’s development process, effectively estimating time-to-completion for project tasks and working efficiently to produce tangible deliverables. Maintain, support and develop migration plans for legacy content management systems across campus and code base. Produce documentation of web applications including requirements and design documents, code documentation, user documentation and other reports as needed. (6%)

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Use industry best practices in software development processes, including change management, supporting backlog prioritization, level of effort estimates, unit-testing, and continuous integration. (5%)
  2. Assist in managing Content Sync which is leveraged to syndicate content across sites. Able to troubleshoot any of the existing pools/flows or create new ones as needed. Implement views, taxonomies, and references in support of this module. (5%)
  3. Ensure protection and security of data that is accessed, collected, or stored by web applications and databases. Analyze logs, performance data, and other metrics to ensure system uptime and stability. (5%)
  4. Provide advanced technical support to various university web developers as they learn Drupal. (1%)
  5. Research and implement technologies to optimize web server architecture. (1%)
  6. Work with other members to establish web architectural standards and patterns. (1%)
  7. Perform other duties as assigned. (1%)
