We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Senior VAT Manager.

In this role, you will:

  • Support and engage with the Head of VAT to implement a VAT strategy in relation to the relevant business lines (retail banking, commercial banking, and service companies), encompassing Advisory, Compliance and Planning workstreams, providing appropriate support to the Head of VAT on key strategic and regulatory matters.
  • To be the Group’s VAT/indirect tax specialist with respect to the business lines, sharing best practice and supporting the Head of VAT in representing pro-actively the Group’s interests with Regulators and Government Agencies.
  • Collaborate with the Head of VAT in order to engage with and implement the Group’s streamlining strategy with respect to the business lines ensuring that VAT accounting and reporting processes are not only compliant but transparent and cost-effective.
  • Be responsible for adhering to the Tax Risk Management and Assurance Framework and take responsibility for VAT Assurance in the business line. The role holder will be responsible for the implementation of Global Standards and for streamlining processes and procedures.

Responsibilities:

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU SHOULD MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experienced VAT professional.
  • Qualified Tax Advisor (CTA) or qualified by experience.
  • Demonstrable working experience of VAT within Practice, Financial Services, or Industry.
  • Collaborative, engaging, credible and methodical; being able to bring the numbers and narrative to life (e.g., writing documents, presenting).
  • Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders (all levels of seniority).
    The base location for this role will be Birmingham and with a hybrid working pattern.
