Description:

Our Market Risk team in Düsseldorf is looking for an SVP Market Risk

Responsibilities:

The Market Risk function monitors, controls and steers commodity price risk, interest rate risk, and foreign exchange risk arising from Uniper’s commercial business. The role requires the individual to lead multiple direct reports and an overall team-size exceeding 20 team members. The SVP Market Risk reports to the Chief Risk Officer. The position is based in Düsseldorf, Germany.

  • Lead the Düsseldorf-based team of market risk managers, as well as functional responsibility for the US-based market risk team
  • Work closely with the heads of the Chief Commercial Officer / Chief Operations Officer areas and senior risk leadership to ensure risks are addressed early and the overall portfolio is well-balanced, from a risk reward perspective
  • Communicate effectively across various committees and actively advise on relevant decision making within Uniper’s Risk Committee and other governance bodies
  • Formulate the market risk management strategy via appropriate de-risking/ risk warehousing of exposures in line with established commercial mandates and Uniper’s risk appetite
  • Facilitate the understanding and modelling of all material market risks across the portfolio to gain an accurate representation of the commodity risks and enable portfolio steering
  • Appropriately size, allocate, and optimally manage market risk limits
  • Maintain and further develop market risk metrics, e.g., VaR
  • Evaluate risks from non-standard / complex transactions and implement risk-adequate control frameworks for new businesses
