Job Description
AECOM is seeking highly motivated and experienced Senior Water Resources Engineers/ Project Managers to join our growing water resources team in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The positions can be based in any of our Ontario offices but preferably in either our Markham or Mississauga offices. These positions will be instrumental in delivering high-quality water resources projects across the region.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and oversee water resources projects from inception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Develop project plans, including scopes of work, budgets, and schedules.
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of project components.
  • Provide technical leadership in water resources engineering, including hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, flood risk assessment, and water quality.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, design drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
  • Perform quality control reviews of work prepared by other engineers and technical staff.
  • Engage with clients to understand their needs, provide regular project updates, and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, and develop contingency plans as needed.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal writing, client presentations, and identifying new opportunities in the water resources sector.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Water Resources, Civil Engineering, or a related field + 8 years of relevant work experience in water resources engineering and project management.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario.
  • Strong technical background in hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, and water quality.
  • Proven experience managing complex water resources projects, including developing project plans, managing budgets, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Design and construction experience related to channels, stormwater, and/or erosion and slope stability projects.
  • Experience including preparation of cost estimates and tender packages as well as contract administration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Proficiency in water resources modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM, InfoWorks, etc.).
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in water resources engineering and project management.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.
  • Experience with Dams (DSRs, decommissioning, dam break modelling, CDA membership)
  • Experience with Fluvial Geomorphology / Natural Channel design.
  • Experience with 2D hydraulic modeling.
  • Strong computer skills, including advanced working knowledge of GIS.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
