Description:

Barnardo’s Scotland Adoption Service is over 40 years old and has is recognised across the four nations. We offer a wide variety of support to all affected by adoption and permanent care. This service is delivered to 14 local authorities across Scotland. We also recruit and support adoptive families and have been able to provide a stable and loving home for many children.
The primary aim of Barnardo’s Scotland Adoption Service is to find families for those children waiting for adoption and also to provide a holistic support service.

Our objectives include:-

  • To recruit, assess and approve a diverse range of adoptive families to meet the needs of waiting children.
  • To carefully match the needs of waiting children with the skills of the prospective adopters.
  • To ensure all Barnardo’s adopters have access to training, guidance and the support of a qualified supervising social worker.
  • To provide a comprehensive support service to subscribing local authorities.
  • To provide search and reunion service to those affected by adoption.
  • To work directly with adoptive families in need of therapeutic support to help build and maintain family relationships.
  • To actively share our knowledge and experience of adoption with the wider adoption community.
  • To participate at a national level in the promotion of adoption and to influence wider policy and strategic development including at a Scottish Government level.
  • A commitment to children, young people’s and those affected by adoption participation to enable us to progress on our journey of continuous improvement.

Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band – this ensures that pay steps are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contribution to excellence and alignment to our values and behaviours.
