Location: The Salvation Army Lee County, AL.
Position Title: Service Center Manager I
Position Type: Regular Full Time/ Hourly
Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 8-5
Pay: $18.64- $19.00

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to perform mathematical computations. Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting or operating a vehicle. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Responsibilities:

  • Recruits and manages a limited staff and volunteer team.
  • Prepares bookkeeping, sales, statistics, and payroll records.
  • Participates in screening and providing services to clients.
  • Represents The Salvation Army in the community.
  • Monitors the receipt and processing of Thrift Store donations.
  • Ensures merchandise is properly priced and rotated in order to maximize store sales.
  • Plans, directs, coordinates, supervises, and participates in the day-to-day operation of a Salvation Army Service Center and Thrift Store.
  • Supervises, schedules, and evaluates the work performed by Thrift Store staff and volunteers; trains staff and volunteers in the proper procedures for performing work.
  • Supervises and coordinates the maintenance of the Service Center and Thrift Store equipment and facilities.
  • Represents The Salvation Army to community Civic Clubs; builds and maintains positive, professional, and effective working relationships with community agencies providing social services.
  • Recruits’ volunteers for all aspects of The Salvation Army.
  • Plans and organizes food drives in order to keep the food pantry well stocked to meet program needs.
  • Receives and receipts all donations, sorts and stocks merchandise. Prepares and makes daily sales deposits for the Thrift Store.
  • Interviews clients in order to determine needs and provide appropriate assistance and referrals.
  • Pays and disburses funds for approved financial assistance and service unit bills.
  • Maintains up-to-date social service case history files on all clients.
  • Ensures the Service Center office and store is maintained in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Prepares and maintains statistical, bookkeeping, and store sales records and reports.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate volunteer records.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates the Thanksgiving and Christmas Programs
