WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re seeking a senior leader with significant experience in managing regulated housing services within a local authority context. You will have a proven track record of delivering complex housing functions, with a focus on compliance, tenant satisfaction, and service innovation.
Your strong strategic leadership and ability to inspire and motivate teams will be essential to our success. With a sound understanding of the Regulator for Housing’s requirements, you’ll bring expertise in compliance and quality improvement. As a full member of the Chartered Institute of Housing, you’ll be equipped with the professional qualifications and insight necessary to lead at this level.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Service Director of Housing & Homelessness, working with the Corporate Director you’ll play a central role in leading our Stronger and Safer Communities directorate, overseeing the management of more than 10,000 council and leaseholder properties. You’ll be instrumental in delivering a high-quality, tenant-focused housing service, ensuring efficient operations and fostering positive experiences for all residents.
In this role, you will drive the delivery of Swindon’s housing transformation, including a proactive capital replacement programme informed by critical stock condition analysis and our evolving Asset Management Plan. With a holistic approach, you’ll ensure that the housing service is fully integrated with the broader Council and Safer Stronger Communities directorate.
A key aspect of your role will involve delivering the Housing Asset Management Plan and implementing the Housing Improvement Plan. You will champion the use of data and insights to support the strategic and structural review of housing services, ensuring our commitment to continuous improvement is upheld.
