SUPPORT ENGINEER – LABMAN AUTOMATION, LIVERPOOL

Labman Automation is seeking a talented Support Engineer to join its growing team in Liverpool. Due to sustained growth, this role offers an exciting opportunity to work with bespoke robotic and software systems, serving major global companies and public bodies.
The position is based at Labman’s purpose-built facility near Liverpool City Centre, with its vibrant shops, restaurants, and historic waterfront, while also offering opportunities to travel within the UK and internationally. The successful candidate will join a small, skilled team of engineers and work regularly with Labman’s headquarters in North Yorkshire.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Strong electromechanical knowledge.
  • Proven problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK (and potentially internationally).
  • Physical fitness to handle on-site tasks, including lifting and equipment handling.
  • A valid UK driving license.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Experience with industrial PLC systems.
  • Previous roles in the automation industry.
  • Customer-facing experience.
  • Diagnostics experience with electromechanical systems.
  • CAD experience, particularly SolidWorks.

Responsibilities:

  • Preventative Maintenance & Repairs: Install, maintain, and repair laboratory automation systems.
  • Technical Support: Provide on-site technical assistance, operator training, and support for internal teams.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose technical issues, minimise downtime, and ensure operational excellence.
  • Quality Assurance: Test and validate systems to meet Labman’s rigorous quality standards.
  • Customer Engagement: Build strong relationships with clients by offering timely, effective solutions.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of service activities, schedules, and customer interactions.
  • Travel: Visit customer sites as required.
  • Business Development: Identify opportunities for system upgrades and improvements.
