Description:

An opportunity has arisen within NHS Dental Services, acting as a Band 6 Dental Service Improvement Officer in the Dental Business Development Team.
This opportunity forms part of our succession plan and transition from the Compass system to the new solution that is being developed by the Transforming Dental Services (TDS) project.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will support the team to deliver continuous improvement.
This role involves liaising with stakeholders to define requirements and creating detailed documentation. Supporting the Service Improvement Lead, you must have excellent organisational skills and the ability to deliver at pace.
You will be expected to take on and retain complex information, becoming a subject matter expert for NHS Dental Services’ systems and processes.

Working as part of the Service Improvement team within NHS Dental Services, Service Improvement Officers are an integral part of ensuring we provide value for the wider NHS and excellent service to our customers. Acting as a subject matter expert, the post holder must have / develop substantial knowledge of NHS Dental Services systems, polices, and procedures.
Service Improvement Officers act as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, to ensure that systems and services are delivered in line with specified requirements.
Service Improvement Officers must work on their own initiative, using the NHS regulations and their own specialist knowledge to influence and deliver change. The post holder must work with close attention to detail, communicating complex information to stakeholders both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities:

  1. Acting as a subject matter expert for NHS Dental Services’ systems.
  2. Developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with external stakeholders to ensure NHS Dental Services interests are represented, overcoming barriers to understanding to foster co-operation.
  3. Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to define requirements and assess the impact of system changes.
  4. Monitoring complex data sets to identify areas for improvement and implementing measures to improve performance.
  5. Setting KPIs in collaboration with senior managers and monitoring delivery against these.
  6. Creating statistical reports to communicate challenges and results to external stakeholders to ensure a transparent and responsive service.
  7. Ensuring any changes are made in compliance with NHSBSA policy and procedures.
  8. Representing NHS Dental Services for Information Governance, including Information Security, Business Continuity, Records Management and compliance with Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts.
  9. Managing all escalated issues and complaints for area of expertise.
  10. Working with large data sets from a variety of sources and creating standard data formats than can be easily analysed, segmented, and profiled to form data sets. Manipulating complex data sets to identify and present findings.
  11. Utilising horizon scanning techniques to stay ahead of future changes and developments with dentistry.
  12. Planning regular stakeholder engagement sessions, ensuring relevant internal and external stakeholders are in attendance. Attending relevant industry events.
  13. Representing NHS Dental Services at industry forums, providing and receiving highly complex information and ensuring this is fully understood.
  14. Identifying opportunities for additional data collections and improvements to support decision making.
  15. Data cleansing our system data to drive efficiencies and improve our data quality.
  16. Supporting the Dental Delivery Manager on the planning, and delivery of other projects and initiatives as required.
  17. Providing training and support to internal and external parties to ensure that requirements are fully understood and embedded within organisations
