Description:

This is a new post dedicated to the Sheffield Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SEOC) to provide leadership and comprehensive service and operational management.
SEOC opened in April 2023 following a multi-million-pound investment. It has 4 dedicated orthopaedic theatres, an admission area, day care ward, inpatient ward, enhanced care unit and therapy treatment rooms all within a self-contained modern facility providing elective hip, knee, foot, ankle, shoulder and elbow surgery. It treats over 3000 patients each year.

    The post holder will be a key member of the SEOC leadership team (this is a multidisciplinary team including ward nursing, therapy, theatre nursing and medical leadership), collectively responsible for ensuring the unit delivers on its KPIs, and specifically responsible for management of all non-clinical services including financial, activity, performance including waiting list management and waiting time targets. They will provide line-management and leadership to all staff for whom they have responsibility. Specifically.
    To provide service leadership. Take a lead on service delivery, improvement, and involving teams and patients in delivering effective, efficient, and timely services, in a cost-effective way.
    To lead on and act in alignment with development of the intended culture of SEOC, that will enable a high performing team to succeed in delivering a brilliant service. Act as a facilitator to ensure teams are supported to deliver.

To be responsible for delivery of activity, performance, waiting list and waiting time targets, by ensuring best practice scheduling, booking and patient management to maximise theatre productivity.

  • To oversee the management of specific administrative staff and services in support of the provision of high quality care, within a patient and staff centred environment.
  • To account for the non-clinical financial allocation, ensuring that the necessary resources are available to deliver clinical and non-clinical services. To ensure delivery of financial targets, including balanced budgets, meeting cost improvement programmes and recovering income. Lead on compilation of HRG and reference costs within the service.
  • Take an active role on the management of SEOC’s M&S processes and spend
  • To lead on the planning process within the service specifically for the production of business plans, capacity plans, service development bids, business cases and capital bids.
