Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking an experienced Service Technician to support our customers in the Chicagoland area and parts of Wisconsin. This role involves traveling to various customer sites, where you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing high-speed printing equipment. The ideal candidate will have prior industry experience, allowing them to step into this role with minimal training. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, delivering technical support and fostering strong customer relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of industry experience in a field service role within the production print or related field
  • Strong electro-mechanical skills with a proven track record of troubleshooting and repairing complex systems
  • Familiarity with PC systems, Microsoft Windows, and networking concepts
  • Customer-focused mindset with exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, managing your territory with a high level of autonomy
  • Experience managing parts inventory and maintaining compliance with operational standards
  • Technical/Trade/Business certification preferred but not required

WORK SCHEDULE & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM
  • Daily travel within the Chicagoland area, covering key locations like Bolingbrook, Lombard, Waukegan, Elk Grove Village, and more
  • Wisconsin sites require monthly or service-based visits to Pleasant Prairie and Windsor
  • Participation in a weekly standby rotation for after-hours and weekend service calls (8 out of 10 sites have 24/7 coverage)
  • Overtime opportunities may be available when necessary

Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair high-speed printing equipment at customer sites
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures using diagnostic tools, service aids, and product schematics
  • Manage parts inventory to ensure compliance with company standards
  • Perform factory modifications, software upgrades, and system optimizations
  • Establish and maintain face-to-face customer relations, ensuring satisfaction and long-term partnerships
  • Understand customers’ print management workflows and related systems to offer tailored support
  • Interface with pre- and post-production equipment, ensuring seamless integration
  • Schedule and complete work activities in alignment with customer needs and service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitive products, and emerging technology to provide clients with the best service possible
