As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for providing our customers with the best service to solve their problems.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to handle both service requests from existing customers as well as manage new installations of our capital equipment systems and visit facilities of customers throughout all industries.
You will
- Perform necessary service, preventative maintenance, repairs, replacements, installations, or re-building of components to restore equipment to safe and proper operation
- Build positive professional relationships with clients, contractors, and associates
- Keep track of item inventory in company vehicles and order any necessary items when planning for upcoming projects.
- Confirm that the packing lists include all required components.
- Maintain an organized and clean working area.
- Perform general warehouse duties to pack and ship material as needed
You will report directly to the Service and Project Manager. You will work closely with Regional Sales Managers located throughout Canada for details on upcoming projects and any service-related questions. The position is based in Markham, Ontario. In this role, you are required to act according to the Piab Group Code of Conduct and know and follow the Piab Group values, mission, and routines.
We are looking for
- Excellent English skills – verbal and written
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Ability to read a tape measure, use hand tools, and most power tools.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematic diagrams to identify and install new crane systems
- Ability to work independently at times and proceed with objectives without supervision.
Experience and Educational background
- High School Diploma / GED
- 2+ years in a construction or manufacturing industry experience
- Industry experience is preferred but must be mechanically and technically inclined.
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures with the construction field
- Basic knowledge for electronic trouble-shooting of low-voltage controls
- Experience operating Forklifts, Scissor Lifts & Pallet Riders is an asset
- Ontario Working at Heights certificate an asset
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Must be able to walk and stand on level or inclined surfaces for certain periods through the day.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands
- Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
- Physical Demands: Employee is occasionally required to lift 75 lbs.
