Description:
The Department of Biological Sciences at Thompson Rivers University is made up of a diverse and collaborative group of faculty offering a B.Sc. degree with majors in: Biology; Animal Biology; Ecology and Environmental Biology; Cellular, Molecular and Microbial Biology; and, in collaboration with the Department of Physical Sciences, Chemical Biology. Cross-cutting themes include: the evolutionary frameworks guiding fundamental and applied ecology; responses of humans and diverse living communities to external stressors, including cellular responses; the use of classical and modern statistical, bioinformatic, and genomic tools to interrogate hypotheses and develop solutions for environmental problems. Core to these themes is a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentorship, collaboration within the Department and with colleagues across campus, participation in undergraduate Honours and MSc programs, and developing a positive environment where students are encouraged to grow as independent learners and critical thinkers.
Delivering lectures face-to-face for both sections of this anatomy and physiology course (Biol 1592), marking exams and assignments, consulting with students in person, on email, or via moodle. Additional teaching/instruction is available in the form of labs to increase the workload for those interested.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are currently seeking a Human Physiologist and/or Anatomist to deliver lectures in our Anatomy and Physiology courses for Nursing, Respiratory Therapy and student interested in the allied health sciences. Successful candidates will have relevant training in Physiology, Medical Sciences, Rehabilitation Sciences, Human Health Sciences, and/or Human Pathophysiology. Ideally they will have completed a PhD in Physiology or a related discipline, along with demonstrated teaching experience at the university level. Applicants with an M.Sc. and demonstrated experience may also be considered
