OVERVIEW
The Integrated Learning Skills Course is designed to equip students with essential learning and communication skills for success in university studies within a Canadian context. This course covers a broad range of skills necessary for academic and non-academic settings, focusing on helping students transition smoothly into university life.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Previous teaching experience, preferably in a university or college setting.
- Sexual Health Educator Certification or experience is preferred
- Strong understanding of the Canadian education system and cultural context.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using online learning management systems (e.g., Moodle).
- Ability to create an interactive and engaging learning environment.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive classroom.
- Knowledge of academic integrity principles and experience in promoting ethical academic practices.
DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Cultural Competence: Ability to understand and address the diverse cultural backgrounds of students.
- Communication: Proficient in professional email writing and other forms of academic communication.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong skills in building relationships and working collaboratively with students and colleagues.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging course materials aligned with the course outline, emphasizing interactive learning.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Facilitate group activities and discussions to enhance learning outcomes and student collaboration.
- Assess student participation and performance, providing constructive feedback to promote growth and improvement.
- Organize and oversee extracurricular activities and events as part of the course curriculum.
- Maintain regular office hours for student consultations and support, addressing academic and personal concerns.
- Communicate effectively with students through email and the Moodle platform, ensuring timely updates and information sharing.
- Uphold academic integrity by educating students on policies and enforcing regulations related to misconduct.
- Collaborate with other faculty and staff to support student success and course development.
