OVERVIEW

ULethbridge International College Calgary (UICC) offers a pathway to an undergraduate degree at the University of Lethbridge.
The Introductory Accounting Skills Course is crafted to introduce students to fundamental accounting principles and essential academic skills tailored for high school students preparing for future studies in Canada. This course emphasizes foundational knowledge in accounting, including basic financial statements, transaction recording, and essential terminologies. Additionally, it nurtures key learning and communication skills crucial for academic success, promoting effective study habits, teamwork, and problem-solving techniques. This course aims to ensure a smooth transition into higher education by building a solid base in accounting and related competencies.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Previous teaching experience, preferably in a university or college setting.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian education system and cultural context.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using online learning management systems (e.g., Moodle).
  • Ability to create an interactive and engaging learning environment.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive classroom.
  • Knowledge of academic integrity principles and experience in promoting ethical academic practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging course materials aligned with the course outline, emphasizing interactive learning. (additional curriculum contract for course development)
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
  • Facilitate group activities and discussions to enhance learning outcomes and student collaboration.
  • Assess student participation and performance, providing constructive feedback to promote growth and improvement.
  • Organize and oversee extracurricular activities and events as part of the course curriculum.
  • Maintain regular office hours for student consultations and support, addressing academic and personal concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with students through email and the Moodle platform, ensuring timely updates and information sharing.
  • Uphold academic integrity by educating students on policies and enforcing regulations related to misconduct.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and staff to support student success and course development.
