JOB SUMMARY

The Department of Planning, Geography and Environmental Studies (PGES) creates collaborative opportunities for students and community organizations to explore the geography of natural and human environments and plan a resilient future. PGES offers Majors in BA Geography, Community & Regional Planning, Environmental Studies and an Associate Certificate in Applied GIS.

The Department requires sessional faculty for the Winter 2025 semester and beyond to teach the following seven courses:

• GEOG 105 Natural Hazards and Hollywood
• GEOG 111 (Abbotsford and Chilliwack) Environmental Issues and Strategies
• GEOG 130 (2 sections) Geography of Canada
• GEOG/ECON 242 Economic Geography
• GEOG 252 Explanation in Geography: Quantitative Methods
• GEOG 311 Global Resources and the Environment
• GEOG 312 Political Ecology: Nature, Culture and Place

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must possess at minimum a Master of Arts degree in geography, environmental studies or a closely related field. Applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the subject area and teaching excellence (or the potential for teaching excellence). Preferred criteria include previous post-secondary teaching experience. We are seeking a collegial, energetic, and innovative individual to effectively mentor students from a diverse range of backgrounds and abilities.
