Description:

SET UP TECHNICIAN / OPERATOR

Location: Whitby Facility (Fabrication Plant)
Shift: Must be able to do a bi-weekly rotation between Day shift (6:45am-3:00pm) and Afternoon Shift (2:45pm-11:00pm)
Afternoon shift has a $0.50 shift premium on hours worked
Monday-Friday- Occasional overtime may be needed

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The goal of the Set-up Technician / Operator is to set up robotic cells, specialized equipment, CNC machines, Saws, Presses, and Custom assembly work cells throughout the plant. This position will be required to conduct first-off runs, create set up master sheets, and log machine/process parameters, along with assisting in the maintenance of production equipment and plant facilities.

EDUCATION/ WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Highschool diploma required
  • Tool & Die knowledge required
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of related work experience is needed to effectively perform the job’s responsibilities
  • Experience with set up and troubleshooting of various machines
  • Experience using various forms of measuring equipment
  • Hands on experience working with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Experience and understanding of CNC machining processes, cutting tools, and set up of CNC Machines

ABILITIES / SKILLS:

  • Must have a strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to Operate fork-lifts and lifting equipment to move machinery and extrusions
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints capable of creating shop drawings to communicate technical details for fabrication
  • Ability to write routine production reports

Responsibilities:

  • Teardown and Set up of diverse Machinery
  • Monitor machine processes and adjust as per production needs
  • Program & run CNC machines when required
  • Monitor, maintain lubrication / coolant levels and its inventory for all machines
  • Performing PM of CNC’s and assist in maintenance of machinery / equipment
  • Build and maintain production fixtures and tools on needs basis
  • Not responsible for supervising others, but does provide direction, coach, and train employees
