SETTLEMENT NEGOTIATOR – U.S. PERSONAL INJURY LAW (CALIFORNIA)Location: Remote (Candidates in Colombia Preferred)
Employment Type: Full-Time Contractor, 40 hours per week
Compensation: Hourly ($12 - $16 USD/hour based on experience)
Working Hours: Pacific Time Zone, 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled Settlement Negotiator with experience in U.S. personal injury law to join our dynamic team. In this contractor role, you will manage the negotiation process for personal injury settlements, working closely with attorneys, insurance adjusters, and clients to achieve favorable outcomes. This position requires strong negotiation skills and the ability to work Pacific Time hours.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in personal injury settlement negotiation within the U.S. legal system.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of U.S. personal injury law and insurance claims processes.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to evaluate cases critically, with attention to detail in drafting demand letters and during negotiations.
- Communication and Writing Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities to interact professionally with attorneys and adjusters.
- Independence: Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, manage priorities, and handle a dynamic workload effectively.
- AI Proficiency: Experience using AI tools to enhance legal research, case evaluation, and negotiation strategies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working remotely with U.S.-based teams.
- Proficiency in legal software and case management tools.
- Familiarity with California-specific U.S. personal injury laws.
HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:
- A PC or laptop with at least an Intel 8th Gen processor (Core i5 and above), AMD Ryzen 5 or above, or a Mac M1 processor or above, with a minimum of 8 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD.
- Two screens/monitors are preferred.
- USB wireless headset or a USB wired headset.
- At least a 50 Mbps internet connection, wired to minimize latency.
Responsibilities:
- Case Evaluation: Analyze personal injury cases thoroughly, reviewing medical records, liability factors, and damages to assess case value.
- Negotiation: Negotiate with insurance adjusters via e-mail and telephone to secure optimal settlements for clients.
- Communication: Maintain clear and proactive communication with attorneys and adjusters, providing updates and managing expectations throughout the negotiation process.
- Documentation: Record all negotiation activities, settlements, and case developments, ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the legal team to provide insights and recommendations that support overall case strategies.
