ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

AMSANT is the peak body for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services in the Northern Territory and advocates for equity in health, focusing on supporting the provision of high quality comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal communities.
AMSANT Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) programs are incorporated into the work of the SEWB team and includes support for services focused on culturally responsive trauma informed practice, suicide prevention and post-vention, workforce development, research and policy.

Responsibilities:

This position takes a lead role in the coordination, support and advocacy of the NACCHO funded Culture Care Connect (CCC) program. The program is being delivered to four ACCHS sites across the Northern Territory and will focus on service integration, coordination, awareness raising, early intervention, crisis management and aftercare services including workforce development and training needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with NACCHO Network Coordinators, the AMSANT SEWB team, ACCHS and local service providers to develop and support the implementation of regional suicide prevention plans and aftercare delivery models, feeding into a jurisdictional NACCHO Culture Care Connect plan; contribute to identification of potential sites for local networks and funding applications to support local activity.
  • Collate and utilise local community suicide prevention action plans and undertake service and funding mapping to inform high level strategic actions, as well as the regional suicide prevention plans.
  • Analyse a range of data to inform broad high-level reporting, policy, strategic planning, and advocacy in relation to the implementation of NACCHO Culture Care Connect model.
  • Develop collaborative, consultative relationships with relevant stakeholders and service providers working in suicide prevention that includes service coordination and provision of advice on existing services within networks.
  • Contribute to a range of strategic policy forums and initiatives and stay up to date on the latest suicide prevention policies, reforms and evidence.
  • Advocate for and influence systems reform and funding from a wide range of sources to enhance suicide prevention and aftercare services, and further build network capacity.
  • Prepare high level project documentation such as presentations, informational flyers, board papers, funder compliance reports, other reports and documents.
  • In collaboration with the SEWB Manager contribute to strategic planning and delivery of activities that integrate and enhance Suicide Prevention from a holistic SEWB approach across the sector and promote a better understanding of Aboriginal-centred SEWB and healing approaches outside of the sector amongst key stakeholders.
  • Report to line manager, AMSANT Board and NACCHO as required.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to SEWB team members including performance management, workplan development and onboarding of staff.
  • Prepare and review high-level submissions, reports and documents that advance or advocate for SEWB-related objectives, including statistical data analysis.
  • Provide oversight and leadership in the implementation and monitoring of SEWB programs and services within parameters of grant funding, performance indictors and internal policies.
