WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an Industrial Sewing Machine Operator to join our team! With extreme attention to detail, our sewers craft custom outdoor cushions. If you are passionate about creating a great product experience for customers, are innovative, a self-starter, adaptable and you like to have fun, you could be a part of the Northern Patio team!

YOU MIGHT BE WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR IF YOU HAVE:

• A demonstrated ability to operate an industrial sewing machine for detailed assembly work.
• The ability to perform repetitive motions of bending, pushing, grasping, and pulling.
• A demonstrated ability to distinguish between colors of thread or fabric, fabric grains, and patterns.
• Good hand-eye coordination, concentration skills, and a demonstrated attention to detail.
• Basic math, reading, and communication skills.
• The ability to rapidly manipulate small parts.
• A proven ability to work in a flexible work environment and adapt to overtime requirements as needed.
• The ability to perform all essential job functions independently.
• Cutting experience is an asset.

WHAT YOU PROBABLY WANT TO KNOW

• Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00pm
• Overtime is available
• Salary ranges from $18-$20 per hour depending on experience

• Set up, operate and maintain a seated industrial sewing machine with foot pedal.
• Operate an industrial sewing machine to join pre-cut upholstery pieces. You will align pieces to preserve grain and/or pattern.
• Follow cushion patterns to ensure end product meets customer’s specifications.
• Sew piping onto cushion covers.
• Serge seams to create a polished finished product.
• Complete tasks in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Use snips to remove stray threads.
• Inspect final product to ensure quality standards are met.
• Make minor repairs to sewing machine.
• Work efficiently to meet production targets.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
• Work with safety as a number 1 priority.
• Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
