SHEF Manager

Salary £50,000 - £55,000 + Car Allowance/ Car
The Safety, Health, Environment and Fire (SHEF) Manager will support operations with guidance and solutions to ensure work activities of VIVO employees and their subcontractors in completed in a safe manner complying with current regulations and adhering to Safety Operating Procedures [SOP] held within VIVO and its parent companies.
The role focuses on Health, Safety, Environment, & Fire with the Built Estate Contracts in Defence based across the Southwest and/or Central regions of England, supporting Line Management on implementation of the Safety Management System.
The SHEF Manager will report to the Head of SHEF functionally but will also have a subject matter expert support & engagement relationship with Built Estate Operational personnel, & Contractors within designated contracts.
Key Accountabilities
This is a new role in a new business supporting the Built Estate Directorate, formed to deliver infrastructure, management of Built Estate, asset, facilities management and construction services into the UK Defence Sector.
Run project activities as agreed within the SHEF activities.
Delivering general, none accredited health and safety training as required
Assisting the Principal Designer and Principal Contractor in the delivery of their duties
Carrying out scheduled and unscheduled inspections of work activities across a large geographical area
Taking appropriate action where any H&S management is failing.
Writing and/or contributing to the contract and business monthly H&S report
Assisting operational managers where necessary in facilitating liaison
Attend coordination / cooperation meetings with clients.
Supporting the health and safety audit regime ensuring that BS 45001 certification is maintained
Support Sustainability initiatives across all contracts
Support VIVO Zero Harm initiatives across all contracts
Qualifications: Please note, if you have NEBOSH and Construction qualifications, we are able to put successful candidates through all other qualifications and training listed below:
Qualifications - NEBOSH Diploma or Construction/General Certificate or equivalent - mandatory for application
NEBOSH Environmental Diploma / Certificate - mandatory for application..
P405 – Asbestos Management preferred
FIRE RISK ASSESSMENT ACCREDITED QUALIFICATION (IOSH / BSC ETC: )
Membership of Association for Project Safety (APS) or Equivalent Organisation
Chartered Member of IOSH, or working towards
Recognised Auditor
Recognised Train the Trainer
Recognised Accident investigation techniques
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
This role would suit a recent graduate looking for a lasting career in Health and Safety with:
Good communication skills
Experience of H&S management in construction
Knowledge of current and relevant H&S legislation
Good presentation skills including delivery of training
Data Analysis and Report Writing
A good level of skill in using Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
Full Driving Licence
Ability to design and lead H&S Campaigns
Environmental Management Qualification
Location will be flexible, with home working where practical an option, but there will be requirements for travel within the UK to support the teams and activities of the business.
