Job Description

Site: Princess Margaret Cancer Center & Princess Margaret Cancer Center Lodge
Department: Facilities
Reports to: Manager
Wage range: $34.79 per hour (Start rate: $34.79 in accordance with collective agreement requirements)
Status: Permanent Full-Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Shift: Rotating shifts 24 hours, including weekends and Statutory holidays (10 and 12 hour shifts)
Location: Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Princess Margaret Lodge

POSITION SUMMARY

The Shift Building Operator is an integral part of the Plant Operations and Maintenance department and maintains responsibility for inspecting the facility/mechanical room.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At minimum, completion of high school or recognized equivalent required
  • Millwright Industrial Mechanic Certification is an asset.
  • Certificate or Diploma in Building Operations and/or completion of a relevant Ministry approved apprenticeship program, or recognized equivalent (if licensed trade, possession of the Provincial Certificate of Qualifications)
  • Minimum of 2 years practical and related experience required
  • Computer literate to operate automated systems
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exercises initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
  • Previous related experience in a health care setting an asset
    Additional Information

Responsibilities:

  • Performing preventative maintenance to ensure the continuous operation of equipment/machinery
  • Diagnosing problems with equipment/machinery
  • Providing feedback to ensure new construction and/or modification will not impact existing systems;
  • Repairing equipment/machinery
  • Contributing to the efficient operation of the departmentPerforming duties consistent with the job classification as required
