The Equipment Performance Division will provide Operations with equipment that functions when required – each and every time. We will achieve this through effective predictive and preventative maintenance programs, leveraging feedback from our trades, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of actions to prevent recurrence of equipment failures.
The Shift Control Technician has the highest regard for safety and are responsible for maintaining systems needed to fuel and control nuclear reactors plus ancillary systems. On a shift or day basis, they are responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, modification and repair of the instrumentation, electronic and electrical equipment used to control systems in our facilities.
This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.
Successful candidates will be assigned to a specific work location onsite based on business needs and must be available to work various shift patterns (i.e. days, afternoons, nights).
More than 1 position may be available.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Shift Control Technicians may be required to work from scaffolding, in confined spaces, and in environments containing radiological, chemical, electrical, and mechanical hazards
  • This work may be performed on a twelve-hour, rotating shift schedule

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Perform installations, commissioning, fabrications, modifications, overhaul inspections, troubleshooting, predictive maintenance, repair and preventive maintenance
  • Maintain equipment including cleaning, repair, lubrication, calibration and adjustment
  • Design and fabricate modifications, subject to design authority approval, to existing electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and computer equipment
  • Initiate and/or maintain maintenance records and testing devices and recommend and/or carry-out the acquisition/fabrication of required devices to perform the work
  • Design, subject to authority approval, prepare, investigate, install, define, evaluate, develop and inspect specific safety related equipment and/or systems to apply environmental qualification standards
  • Perform and analyse infrared thermography on electrical, electronic, instrument, computer equipment or systems and building structures to detect thermal anomalies

Education and Experience

  • Candidates require an Ontario or Interprovincial license in one of the following trades:
  • Instrumentation and Control Technician: Trade Code 447A,
  • Industrial Electrician: Trade Code 442A,
  • Construction and Maintenance Electrician: Trade Code 309A or D.
  • Work experience with thermography and/or baker testing is considered an asset
  • A Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) systems qualification is considered an asset
  • Work experience on process equipment in a Power Generation Facility is considered an asset.
  • Bruce Power Work Protection qualification is considered an asset.
