Role Summary
Combine Cafe & Bar Shift Leader will report directly to the Restaurant Manager/Cafe Manager. Shift Leader is responsible and accountable for the Front of House operations including training, inventory, scheduling and supervision of all Front of House operations. Combine Cafe & Bars’ Shift Leaders will be experts in our menu, how best to pair our diverse, well-curated mix of delicious food and beverage offerings all while ensuring a flawless execution of service. As a part of Combine Cafe & Bar the Shift Leader will contribute to the positive and enthusiastic team environment who work together as a cohesive team with a focus of excellence in all that we do.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure that excellent levels of service are being delivered to the guests during service.
- Ensure that all equipment used is in safe working order, checked regularly and any faults are reported to management, while ensuring equipment is not used until safe.
- Action guest concerns and compliments by praising staff and resolving complaints in a timely manner.
- Comply with all Combine’s policies and procedures and rules and regulations.
- Shift management in support of the management team.
- Running food and performing table-side service during busy periods to support your serving team.
- Assist the Restaurant Manager, Cafe Manager or Assistant Manager with all aspects of restaurant operations.
- Other duties as required.
- Ensures adherence to food safety regulations, hygiene and cleanliness as per Provincial and local standards.
- Performs monthly inventory in a timely manner with price extensions.
- Accountable and responsible for labor forecasting and scheduling based on business levels.
- Ensures FOH labor cost is on the line to the budget.
- Ensure that proper closing procedures are followed.
- Ensures that fire plan knowledge and WHMIS training is kept up to date.
- Complies with WCB rules and regulations and maintains awareness of any/all other relevant laws and statutes.
- Performs other duties as assigned and directed by Restaurant Manager/Cafe Manager.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma
- Minimum five years supervisory experience in a full service restaurant and bar.
- Eligible to work in Canada
Skills and Abilities
- Superior communication skills including the ability to retain, coach, mentor and develop staff
- Ability to work with others in a fast paced customer service oriented environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi - task and coordinate multiple functions and activities.
- Ability to effectively use business software.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends as business dictates
