As Shift Manager you will ensure the effective management of daily/weekly productivity, quality, Health & Safety, Environmental Management, costs, waste and people and maximise efficiency and drive change through continuous improvement.
This role is part of the wider operations management team, and you will report to the Head of Operations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience of working within Health and Safety frameworks
  • Strong operations, distribution or manufacturing background or proven relevant experience
  • Line management experience (supervisory management qualification would be advantageous)
  • Demonstrable ability to coach and mentor teams to deliver results through people
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Previous experience of working with budgets and KPI’s would be preferred
  • Food Hygiene – Level 2 required, Level 3 is desirable

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that all Health and Safety and Environmental procedures are always followed and encouraging colleagues to do the same.
  • Active reporting of Health and Safety accidents and near misses and encouraging colleagues to do the same.
  • Active implementation of brand integrity controls and encouraging your team and others to do the same.
  • Investigate and rectify root cause of product non-conformances and corrective actions raised.
  • Completion of regulation 1:1 with Operations Supervisors
  • To assume the role of senior manager on site in the absence of the Head of Operations outside normal hours in event of emergency
  • Overall accountability for the successful running of an Operations shift
  • To drive Continuous Improvement activities and to implement changes to improve efficiencies across the warehouse
  • Labour planning and management of temporary labour and associated budgets to ensure we have the right people in the right place to meet business demands
  • Deliver daily, weekly and monthly KPI’s and produce associated reports
  • To lead daily review meetings; follow up any actions and ensure efficient and effective shift transitions
  • To manage the performance and behaviour of all team members in line with current procedures
  • (Including conducting investigations, disciplinaries, grievances and performance discussions
  • To work closely with other functions to ensure all supply chain demands are met
  • To identify skills gaps within your team and create training plans using skills matrices and LMS to develop a rolling plan
  • Coach and develop the team where necessary, ensuring development plans are in place and continuously reviewed against the skills matrix.
  • Complete robust daily handovers to other Shift Managers to ensure effective running of operation
  • Ensure correct usage of the Time and Attendance system by all colleagues in the department
  • Ensure full understanding of all relevant Company policies and procedures that are specific to your role
  • Trained as an Emergency Response Marshall and a recognised point of reference for the department
  • Ensure all documentation and records are completed in a timely manner ready for the weekly reporting
