Responsibilities:
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- To facilitate and monitor respective shift team performance in relation to behavior and ensure compliance through collaboration with relevant teams and by coordinating, assisting and coaching team members as well as implementing & executing tasks to meet the unit’s KPIs in a safe manner and to ensure the area runs at optimum.
WHAT YOU’LL HAVE DONE BEFORE:
Baseline:
- NQF Level 5 (Higher Certificate in Chemical Engineering or relevant qualification)
- 3 years’ experience in Petro-Chemical operations
- Experience in oil and gas environment
Advantageous:
- Diploma in Chemical Engineering or relevant
- Experience in Petro-Chemical product storage and movement

- Operate effectively, even when things are not certain, or the way forward is not clear.
- Ability to work in a plant environment (Occupational Risk & Exposure Profile).
- Consequential operational impact (work environment with HSEQ Risks and hazardous chemicals).
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Follows Operating Discipline principles, procedures, and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned facility areas.
- Act as an advisor during HSE Emergency Response and support the SAC to make sure all tasks, activities and meetings are executed as planned.
- Ensure preliminary Root Cause Analysis (RCA) sequence of events is captured on shift by specified role and team for any incident/un-planned event that stipulated in procedure.
- Coordinate Procedure Use Discipline (PUD) related to shift commissioning/decommissioning activities.
- Receive and respond to emergency calls from the Process Control Technician (PCT) - (except medical emergencies).
- Support the incident management team as needed.
- Foster and sustain effective working relationships and rapport with the government authorities, business and management institutions, national and key industry players and service providers to keep abreast with latest development to capture new business opportunities.
- Drive the development of competent working team that will enhance and sustain staff capabilities in achieving high performance delivery to ensure internalization of the right leadership and capabilities in executing their jobs
