EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • The preferred level of education is to a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in a technical or science subject, although relevant other qualifications with energy recovery or large process plant experience will be considered for the role.
  • This role requires a broad technical background in either plant operations or maintenance, with preferably five years practical and supervisory experience with other comparable process facility.
  • Previous Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status is desirable.
  • Experience of maintenance planning and management activities in other comparable process facilities.
  • Awareness of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and file sharing methodology systems.
  • Demonstrates commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, specifically to include the accurate recording of detailed shift logs.

  • Strong leadership skills involving a multi-disciplined team.
  • Performance driven with the ability to deliver added value and assist in the improvement of operational performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the operations team to include Shift and Assistant Plant Operators, closely supporting the Dayshift Supervisor and Day Operators and any additional agency or contract workers required for the safe and effective operation of the facility.
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Encyclis policies, procedures and legislation.
  • Support recruitment and training requirements and carryout periodic performance appraisals for direct reports.
  • Operate the facility in a safe and environmentally compliant manner whilst ensuring efficient operation on a shift rotation basis, to include night and weekend shift working.
  • Prioritise work loads to ensure maximum process efficiency.
  • Manage the general well-being of your direct reports.
  • Organise shift cover when required, ensuring shift complement is maintained.
  • Manage the daily meetings to ensure priorities have been established for health, safety, environmental and further plant defects.
  • Completion of any incident reporting and carrying out follow-up investigations as necessary.
  • Management responsibilities for direct reports to include Shift and Assistant Plant Operators (direction, co-ordination and performance analysis).
  • Enact the role of Senior Authorised Person (SAP) whilst on shift, and champion the Safe Systems of Work and Permit to Work System.
  • The Shift Team Leader will take an active role in promoting, monitoring and improving the site H&S performance to include PPMS, routines and safety inspections and partake in H&S meetings and forums.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the facilities operational procedures and risk assessments (SOPRA’s).
  • The ability to operate and interrogate complex Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
  • During emergency situations the Shift Team Leader will perform the duties of the incident controller and co-ordinate with the emergency services.
  • During out of hours where there is a requirement to call upon management or maintenance services due to a safety, environmental or maintenance issue the Shift Team Leader will be required to make initial contact and co-ordinate the event throughout.
  • Liaise closely with the maintenance teams on all planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
  • Remove plant and apparatus from service in preparation for maintenance teams or routine tasks as required, returning the plant to operation in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Lead operational improvement processes, management of operational corrective actions, fault identification and notification via the CMMS
  • Serve as the coordinator in the absence of Operations Manager.
  • Co-ordinate and control of contractors for operational tasks to ensure work is performed in accordance with the Safe System of Work and Site Safety Rules.
  • Take ownership of plant cleanliness and ensure excellent standards of housekeeping are maintained at all times.
