Description:
We are seeking a Shift Team Manager with proven people skills and a process background.
You must be able to create and execute a people strategy, be adept at following HR policy and be able to create an engaging environment that drives improved performance.
Your approach will improve team engagement overall and will ensure the continued development of individuals, whether through their upskilling or taking on additional responsibilities.
- 36 hours per week Monday – Friday.

Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING AS A SHIFT TEAM MANAGER
- You will be responsible for the Shift team on site and all activities the team carry out. Including direct people performance management and coaching.
- Direct line management of 19 process controllers to ensure the team have the right competence to carry out their daily roles.
- Ensuring the site remains compliant with several regulatory outputs. Including Water Quality compliance, responsible for Health and Safety related to the operation of the site.
- Liaison with key internal and external stakeholders at all levels. Supporting and facilitating other teams responsible for delivering service to our customers.
- Carry out routine meetings with the team, both on a collective and a 1-2-1 basis. You will tailor content so that is it appropriate for the purpose and improve team engagement and development.
- You will make sure that technicians’ time is used effectively, and that they are utilised well concerning their skills. You will also ensure that coaching and training is given.
- Establish a health and safety culture by enabling your team to address hazards proactively before they manifest as near misses. You will ensure that health and safety are managed collaboratively, with technician direction and input valued and actioned.
- Manage budget, consumables and office supplies within your budget.
- You will also work with your colleagues to ensure effective means for managing critical spares for all assets on site.
- Ensure the team comply with all regulatory requirements to keep the drinking water safe leaving the site.
WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING TO THE ROLE?
- Knowledge and experience working in a clean water treatment process environment.
- Demonstrable management experience with front-line operational teams in a similar environment.
- You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alongside excellent organisational skills, a keen eye for detail and a demonstrable ability of managing and prioritising a heavy workload under pressure.
- You will be confident in your ability to present key findings and liaise with managers of all levels.
- Experience in stakeholder management.
- Strong logistical skills, and experience in using Office 365.
- A strong background in process management with excellent skills in operations, finance, and H&S.
- Due to the nature of the role, a valid, UK driving licence is required.
