Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Support the Ship Integrated Product Team (IPT) with review of Design Agent (DA) Subcontract Deliverables List artifacts in support of both platform and combat systems ship integration activities
- Support both platform and combat systems program Platform and Combat Systems IPT working groups
- Provide technical expertise and support to the Ship DA in the development of the Combat Systems ship Design Package including:
- Ship Design
- Room Arrangements
- Operations Room Layout
- Mast Design / Analysis
- Topside Combat Systems Equipment Arrangements / Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3s) Analysis
- Technical Documentation and Drawing Development
- Ship Design artifacts Interfacing with DAs, shipyard and Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) customer.
- Three Dimensional (3D) Modelling works in support of Combat systems arrangements (Line of Sign, Blast and efflux Analysis, Weapon Fly out, Gas and Air Wake Analysis).
- Support Ship Classification and Certification Activity
- Develop and measure Technical Data Packages (TDPs) for Combat System upgrade to track performance
- Sub-Contractor technical documentation reviews in support of ship design deliverables:
- Signature Management (Radio Communications System (RCS), Laser, Optical, Infra-Red, Acoustic)
- Human Factors Engineering (HFE)
- Ship Design technical performance management
- Participate in the development of the following products:
- Basis of Estimates (BOEs) and cost estimates
- Close liaison with the DA is required which could include regular travel.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical engineering, and/or Combat Systems Engineering and/or Naval Architecture
- 0-2 years professional experience
- Experience in ship general arrangements, space arrangements and outfitting, using Two Dimensional (2D) or 3D AutoCAD or other Computer Aided Design (CAD) software
- Experience with ship platform and combat systems design and analysis (Hull/Structural, Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical, Transverse Engineering)
- Experience in Naval Surface Warfare systems ship design and arrangements works
- Experience in a Naval Platform or Combat Systems Engineering role
- Experience with Classification Society rules/regulations
- Strong teamwork skills
- Strong communication skills
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to prioritize competing demands.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS DESIRED FOR THE ROLE
- Experience in ship design/engineering in relation to survivability (Intact and damage stability, survivability)
- Experience in ship Cable Management and cable/connector design
- Experience in Shipboard Aviation Support Systems
- Experience in a naval engineering or naval shipbuilding environment
- Knowledge in Systems Engineering
- Knowledge in requirements management using Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements Systems (DOORs)™ (IBM Rational)
- Knowledge in weight and stability calculations
- Knowledge in Structural Design
- Experience with Microsoft Common Office Tools
- Knowledge in International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Controlled Goods (CG)
- Experience with Ship Engineering Data and Configuration Management.
