Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
As the Shipping Coordinator, you will direct and communicate all import and export shipments from the BD Plymouth facility, ensuring all necessary documentation are in place for transportation movements.
This role includes managing parcel shipments, ensuring proper documentation, and arranging collections with suitable couriers. Additionally, handling all customs requirements for import and export shipments, including Inward Processing (IP) requirements, and manage raw material deliveries in collaboration with the raw materials team.
You will monitor material import status, track progress, update metric reports, and attend team meetings to communicate delivery statuses, assign delivery slots, and arrange container collections and deliveries with hauliers.
Responsibilities:
- Satisfy all the legal customs requirements associated with imports and export transportation.
- Ensure Finished Goods are shipped to customers in line with the requirements of the European and Plymouth planners and that all products are correctly invoiced.
- Ensure all shipments are correctly documented and suitable filing systems are maintained.
- Instigate any shipment improvements to ensure accuracy and reduce costs where possible.
- Preparation of contingency plans in the event of a major disruption in any port.
- Organise and control of European shipments to BD US locations ensuring to plan container requirements, maintain good communication links and maintain a supplier metric to monitor quality, service and delivery performance.
- Ensure a safe environment for container movements, liaising with facilities and contractors to ensure a safe operating environment and maintain continued shipping operations.
- Monitor and communicate shipping errors and damage reports, investigate and correct errors, identify and act on continuous improvement opportunities.
- Keep up to date with customs import and export terminology, procedures and documentation requirements, communicate and implement changes as required in line with BD Plymouth quality procedures.
- Prepare all relevant import and export documentation in a timely manner to avoid delays and excess duty payments.
- Ensure all SAP transfers are completed for the transfer of product from the SAP system to internal systems.
- Responsible for the shipment of finished product as requested including completion of all necessary documentation, SAP and finance requirements.
- Monitor material import status and tracks progress, update metric reports and attend team meetings to communicate status of deliveries.
- Liaise closely with support groups, i.e. Goods In Inspection, production planners and the Goods In teams in all aspects relating to material imports and deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with customs brokers and suppliers to ensure compliance and deliver results that matter.
