JOB SUMMARY

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for verifying and keeping records of incoming and outgoing shipments. This role will prepare and schedule Items for shipment. They will compare identifying information of the incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against the Bill of Lading, invoices, orders or other records including but not limited to counts, weights or measurements.

  • Determine method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, route and rates
  • Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on the cartons using stencil equipment
  • Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or preassemble containers
  • Insert items into the containers using spacers, fillers and protective padding
  • Plan and monitor everyday shipments and reduce documentation discrepancies
  • Ensure on time shipment, on time documentation, booking follow up and monitoring shipment from point of origin to point of destination
  • Receive incoming orders of materials, equipment and supplies and maintain records into the computer with data entry
  • Verify information from Bill of Ladings, invoices and orders against the actual shipment to verify completeness
  • Keep records of shortages and damages found and address the issue to rectify the problem
  • Must be able to operate forklift trucks or pallet jacks to move material in the warehouse
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures and ethics code

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred; equivalent years of relative experience or proven mechanical aptitude may be considered in lieu of a diploma or GED
  • Associate’s degree or Trade/Technical School is desired

EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 – 3+ years of direct experience.
  • Position may be filled with both entry level and experienced candidates

SKILLS:

  • Forklift
  • Shipping via LTL and FTL
  • Coordinating with freight forwarders
  • Ability to track and trace
  • Shipping via FedEx, UPS, and DHL
  • Shipping internationally and domestically
  • Basic computer skills

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 – 3 years in a shipping logistics/coordinator role

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
