Description:
EDUCATION:
- Post-secondary education in a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years of experience in a Shipping Supervisory role in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Supervisory or operations leadership experience within the Corrugated packaging sector is highly desired
- Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities are essential
- Able to work rotating shifts as per operational requirements
- High energy level required
- Flexibility to be available on-call for making arrangements on after-hours emergency deliveries and to work extended hours as necessary to meet deadlines
- Strong communication, interpersonal and critical thinking skills are essential
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
- Proficient with MS Office applications and systems
- Excellent math skills
- Knowledge of OH&S Act; First Aid and CPR
- Exhibit a sense of urgency and demonstrates the ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to present themselves in a professional manner
- Experienced and Licensed Counter Balance / Tow Motor Operator – an asset
Responsibilities:
JOB DUTIES:
- Direct receiving, warehousing and distribution services to meet customer delivery requirements
- Ensure enough equipment is available for the operation, ensure the operation has enough drivers to deliver all orders as requested by customers
- Able to find quick resolution to any issue that would negatively impact deliveries or the general operation in the Warehouse
- Responsible for all shipping staff which includes: determining training needs, conducting performance reviews, participation in the recruiting of new staff, completing all necessary reporting for health and safety and WSIB issues, and the ability to resolve employee concerns
- Monitor general activities in the shipping department
- Continuously look for opportunities to improve the operation with the ultimate goal of reducing cost while maintaining an excellent level of service
- As a priority in the department, ensure that stock is moving expeditiously and always cleared from the production lines
- Able to conduct crew meetings on a monthly basis – both safety and quality/production and minutes completed in a timely manner
- Ensure all inspections/checklists are completed on a daily basis
- Enforce Company policies and procedures
- Responsible for house keeping
- Develop weekly crew schedules
- Monitor and report overtime
- Back-up for the position is the Shipping Supervisor from alternate departments/plants when required or as designated by the Shipping Manager
- Other duties as assigned
