Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Shop Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Service Center Manager and Production Planner as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of work for each operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences, quotation processes, and lead times, including sequence of procurement, fabrication, assembly and other manufacturing and finishing operations for the guidance of plant production.

Must have the following:

  • Experience with rotating equipment specifically overhaul and refurbishment of centrifugal and reciprocating pumps
  • Knowledge of API standards in particular API 610, API 674 and API 682

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload to maximize efficiency.
  • Excellent people and communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, SAP, Excel, Word, and PDF editors such as Adobe or Nuance
  • Able to lead a workshop and associated work crews to accomplish goals and objectives established by management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate clearly and work across the organization. Able to work and lead as part of a team.
  • Able to read and interpret maintenance and repair manuals.
  • Solid comprehension of welding and machining practices and standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 2-4-year technical degree or related coursework preferred.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in a repair facility or manufacturing environment, managing shop floor personnel.
  • Experience in pump and industrial equipment repair with a strong understanding of machining, welding, and assembly processes and related equipment required.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and own safe work practices, quality compliance, and contractual compliance.
  • Assign work to shop floor personnel to maximize utilization and productivity.
  • Production planning including expediting goods and services provided by 3rd party vendors, with assistance of the project coordinator.
  • Track and manage shop work to meet or exceed production goals.
  • Manages Employee Time (Clock In, Clock Out, Sick, Vacation Time, etc.)
  • Routinely perform safety and productivity inspections in the workshop ensuring tasks are in compliance with safety and quality procedures.
  • Ensure all team members understand and follow procedures and that all incidents are promptly reported and investigated.
  • Provide regular updates to Service Center Manager and Production Planner regarding work performed in the shop.
  • Facilitate the documenting of As-Found/As-Built Data during tear-down inspections and during assembly.
  • Develops repair strategies for equipment with a goal to meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Creates clear work scopes and detailed parts lists to enable efficient and quality repair of equipment.
  • Performs regular quality inspections during the equipment repair process and part fabrication.
  • Provides oversight and leads EH&S activities for the shop floor.
  • Collects and maintains Certificates of Clean and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for incoming equipment.
  • Manages the Cross-Training and Development of Shop Floor Personnel.
  • Coordinates Hazardous Waste Disposal Management
  • Occasionally expedites procurement of outside goods to minimize delays and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Assists in the reconciliation and reporting of physical inventory and production data.
  • Performs all tasks in accordance with ClydeUnion’s Business Conduct guidelines.
  • Workdays – As required by facilities operations.
